Emotional release: what is it and how does it work?

Some days everything looks fine on the surface. And yet something weighs on you. A fatigue that rest cannot seem to touch. A quiet sense of being slightly beside yourself, without really knowing why.

Perhaps you have been through a lot. Moves, changes, one adaptation after another. Perhaps you are carrying emotions you have never truly been able to express, because life simply never gave you the space to do so.

What you are feeling is often a signal that emotions held in for a long time are waiting to be met and released. This process has a name: emotional release.

In this article, I explain what emotional release is, why emotions accumulate, how to recognize the signals your body, heart and soul are sending, and how this release process unfolds concretely within a session.

What is emotional release?

Emotional release refers to the process of letting go of emotions that have been held back, suppressed or accumulated over time. These may include stress, anxiety, sadness, anger, fear, guilt, deep fatigue or emotions tied to difficult experiences from the past.

The core idea is simple: unexpressed emotions do not disappear. They become lodged in the body, in the energetic field, in cellular memory. They continue to act in silence, creating blockages, often without our awareness, until they find a space to be met and moved through.

Emotional release is not about suppressing emotions. Nor is it about reliving them painfully. It is about recognizing them, moving through them gently and letting them go, to restore an inner space that feels freer, lighter and more alive.

What people often feel after an emotional release? It is frequently described this way: "I feel lighter", "a weight has lifted", "I can breathe more easily", "I see things more clearly."

Why do emotions accumulate?

We live in a world that values adaptation, resilience and moving forward. From an early age we learn to contain our emotions, not to burden others, to put on a brave face.

For women living far from their roots, this pattern is often amplified. With every new country, every new life, every fresh start, they adapt. They reinvent themselves. They carry the invisible grief of what has been left behind: connections, landmarks, parts of themselves, often without ever having the space to name or move through any of it.

I have lived this myself. More than twenty moves, fifteen years abroad, seven countries, five languages. With every new departure, starting over from scratch, and setting aside, once again, the emotions I hadn't had time to face. Until the day I understood that changing countries would not make what I was carrying disappear, and that my heaviest luggage was the kind that couldn't be seen. It was by moving through what had been buried for too long, through energetic and Akashic work, that I finally found my way back to who I truly was. And it is this path that led me to guide other women through their own process of emotional release.

What I witness, session after session, is that emotions accumulate also because their roots run deeper than what appears on the surface. An emotion that arises today often carries the imprint of a deeper wound, sometimes buried since childhood, sometimes passed down through generations, sometimes reaching even further back.

This is precisely where deep emotional release work comes in: tracing blockages back to their source, not merely soothing the symptom.

Signs that you need emotional release

The body, heart and soul send signals. Here are the most common ones:

  • A persistent fatigue. You feel exhausted, but not in a way that sleep can fix. It runs deeper than that, touching your vitality, your joy, your desire to engage with life.

  • Disproportionate emotions. A sadness or anger that surfaces for no apparent reason, an instinctive reaction to a situation that is otherwise insignificant. It is not the present situation triggering the response: it is an old, buried emotion looking for a way out.

  • A sense of apathy, emptiness or disconnection. You go through the motions but without truly inhabiting them. You are there, but not really present. You no longer quite recognize yourself. As if something had quietly dimmed.

  • Sleep disturbances or difficulty concentrating. Unexpressed emotions keep turning through the night, disrupting sleep or causing you to wake in the small hours. During the day, concentration becomes harder: a large part of your energy is being used to contain what has not yet been released.

  • A tendency to compensate. Through food, shopping, screens, work... all ways of numbing what is overflowing. The body seeks to relieve the emotional system, in the absence of a real space to release it.

  • A need to withdraw. An overloaded emotional system seeks to limit outside stimulation. This need to withdraw is a protective mechanism, distinct from a healthy need for restorative solitude.

  • Repeating patterns. The same relational dynamics, the same blockages, the same cycles returning again and again, as if something is asking to be seen and resolved.

  • A creativity that has gone quiet. Projects set aside, creative joy extinguished, a vitality that won't return despite your efforts.

  • A lack of clarity. You no longer quite know what you want, what matters to you, who you are beyond your roles.

  • A recurring urge to leave, to start over somewhere else. A new country, a new city, a new life. As if the answer were always somewhere else. This impulse can sometimes conceal not a need for external change, but a need for inner release.

If you recognize yourself in several of these descriptions, your emotional system is sending you a message: it is ready to release.

How does emotional release unfold in a session?

Emotional release can happen through many different paths. At Nadi Alma, it works through two complementary approaches: the Akashic Records and energy healing.

The inner journey

Each session begins with a welcome and a guided meditation, to settle into calm and openness. You then share what you are going through, your question, your situation, what is weighing on you.

Then we set off together on an inner journey. Not a mental introspection, but an energetic and intuitive journey, guided by what emerges from the Akashic Records.

"I was pleasantly surprised by how the session flowed, warm and natural, gently leading me toward a blockage that had been buried deep in my memory."

The space is gentle and safe, and the session moves at your own pace.

""You feel completely safe and held to go as deep as you need, at your own pace."

The role of the Akashic Records in emotional release

The Akashic Records are a vibrational field perceived as a higher plane of consciousness, both a benevolent source of insight and a harmonizing source of energy. As the vibrational memory of your soul, they shed light on what you have been carrying for a long time, supporting deep emotional release.

What makes this approach particularly powerful is that it does not work solely on what you can put into words or consciously access. It reaches deeper layers: emotional memories buried long ago, sometimes since childhood, sometimes carried within the family lineage, sometimes connected to another lifetime, that the rational mind alone cannot reach.

During a session, I connect to this field to receive the information that sheds light on the origin of what is weighing on you. These are not ready-made answers: they are gentle illuminations, soft revelations that allow you to see differently what you have been carrying without understanding it. A deep-rooted wound, perhaps. Or a limiting belief long lodged within. Or an emotional knot whose existence you had never suspected, suddenly revealing itself with surprising clarity.

Once the original blockage has been brought to light, we are guided on a healing journey to where the wound takes root, held in the gentleness and care of the Akashic field.

This is precisely what sets this emotional release work apart from simply managing emotions on the surface. The goal is not intellectual understanding. It is tracing the wound back to its source, shedding light on it and releasing it.

"Through her fluid and illuminating guidance, I explored deep corners of my soul, uncovered buried emotions, released what had been knotted inside and worked through feelings I had long carried."

The process is not always linear: other themes may surface during the session, consciously or unconsciously connected to your original question. You remain in full control throughout.

"From one release to the next, this session was a true revelation for me."

The role of energy healing

While the Akashic Records illuminate, reveal and guide the inner journey, energy healing releases, soothes and anchors this work in the body. The two approaches do not simply add up: they speak to each other and complement each other in real time, throughout the session.

Suppressed emotions do not live only in memory or thought. They live in the body, in the tissues, in the energetic field. They create areas of tension, blockages in the flow of energy, imbalances in the energy centers (chakras) that can manifest as fatigue, physical pain, a sense of heaviness or disconnection.

Energy healing works directly on these areas: rebalancing the energy centers, dissolving lodged tensions, harmonizing the overall vibrational field. What the Akashic Records illuminate on an informational level, energy healing releases on a vibrational level.

For actually, everything is energy: the information transmitted from the Akashic Records, the feelings that surface, the healing itself. It is from this same Akashic field, a living field of benevolent and harmonizing energy, that the healing draws its source. Guidance and healing are two expressions of the same connection.

"Nadine guided me through resolving deep emotional blockages and I still can't believe one single session could have had such a beautiful impact. I feel so much more serene, aligned, and my body feels better too."

It is this body-heart-soul dimension, worked on simultaneously, that makes it possible to reach the true origin of an emotional blockage wherever it lives, and release it deeply, in a single session.

What happens after the session

By the end of the session, what is most often felt is a new clarity, a sense of relief, a lightness restored.

"I left the session feeling more at peace, lighter and clearer about the direction I needed to take."

In the days that follow, it is normal to sometimes feel a passing fatigue or emotions rising to the surface: this is a sign that the release work is continuing and integrating. This phase is natural and temporary.

And in the weeks that follow: a vitality returning, a creativity awakening, an inner peace settling in gradually. Having shed light on what she was carrying, each woman can move forward with greater clarity and lightness.

"I had beautiful moments of awareness and I am already feeling very positive effects one week later, particularly on my creativity."

FAQ - Emotional release

Does emotional release work online?

Yes, entirely. Energy is not limited by physical space. Emotional release work done remotely is just as deep as in person. All Nadi Alma sessions take place via Google Meet, from anywhere in the world.

How many sessions does emotional release take?

A single session is often enough to bring meaningful relief and a renewed sense of vitality. The Nadi Alma Holistic Session - Energetic & Akashic, which combines both approaches over two hours, is particularly well suited for deep work. Emotional release work is not a process that requires months of follow-up: it goes to the source, not just the symptom. Some people return after a few months, others as their needs arise. Your own sense of what feels right guides the rhythm.

What is the difference between emotional release and conventional therapy?

Conventional therapy works primarily through words and cognition: understanding, analyzing, naming. Holistic emotional release works on a deeper level: the body, the energetic field, ancient memories. It does not seek intellectual understanding, but rather to move through and release what has become lodged within. The two approaches are complementary, not mutually exclusive. Holistic emotional release does not replace medical or psychological care: it comes as a support, never a substitute.

Is emotional release painful?

No. The work takes place in a nurturing, safe space and at your own pace. You are regularly invited to express what you are feeling throughout the session. Emotions may surface, which is natural and healthy, but they are met with gentleness, never forced.

Who is emotional release for?

For anyone who feels they are carrying something difficult to name: emotional fatigue, blockages, repeating patterns, a lack of vitality, a sense of disconnection. At Nadi Alma, I work more specifically with women living far from their roots, for whom the emotional accumulation linked to transitions, adaptations and invisible grief is often particularly present.

Do you need to believe in the Akashic Records for it to work?

No. An open mind is enough. There is no need to subscribe to any particular belief system. What matters is your intention and your inner availability. You remain in full control throughout: it is always up to you to receive what emerges in the light of your own life.

Ready to set down what weighs on you?

If something in this article has resonated, it may be that your emotional system is ready to release. There is no need to understand everything before you begin. All it takes is a space, an intention and the courage to take the first step.

I invite you to book a free 20-minute discovery call: a chance to connect, ask your questions and find together the session that feels right for you.
